Sunnybrook NICU campaign update
A few weeks ago, we kicked off a $170,000 fundraising campaign to raise the funds necessary for a digital echocardiography imaging system. The system would be housed at the Sunnybrook Hospital neo natal intensive care unit, currently resident at Women’s College Hospital.
The NICU serves hundreds of families a year. Most days, the suite is filled to capacity with 36 babies, with each isolette stationed in merely 30 square feet of space. This machine, once we succeed, will allow specialists at The Hospital for Sick Children, for example, to provide dramically faster reads of heart problems, among other things.
Thanks to the generosity of some wonderful people and firms, we’ve received about $68,000 to date (37%). My wife and I have made an additional financial pledge towards Sunnybrook’s $40 million capital campaign for the new perinatal wing, which will eventually house the NICU unit…but we’re hoping to not have to count that.
Thanks to everyone for their support (the list is on the left hand side of our blog). If you’d like to contribute with a credit card, we’d very much appreciate it. Hit the link at the top of our home page or the blog’s home page.
We’ll keep you posted as the campaign progresses.
