Preferred Share Analysts/Traders have moved: Daniel Levine has gone to join JP Morgan in New York and Rob Posthumus will join Desjardins’ Institutional Equity Sales Desk.
Francois Laplante, a liability trader in Montreal, has been appointed Head of Liability Trading.
Canadian west-coast focused Institutional Salesperson, Heather Hatch, is moving to Sprott Asset Management.

Recent Scotia Capital changes:

Mike Durland becomes Co-Chairman, Co-Chief Executive Officer and Head of Global Capital Markets, replacing John Schumacher. Durland will work with Co-CEO Steve McDonald, to take over Schumacher’s Global Capital Markets responsibilities.
Onno Rutten has left to join the Canadian business of UBS as a Mining Analyst and Director.

RBC Capital Markets named David Pichler, Managing Director and Head of U.S. Fixed Income and Currencies Credit Trading, responsible for investment-grade trading, high yield trading and secondary loan trading in the U.S. Pichler was previously at Citigroup as Co-Head of Global Credit Trading.

Robert McKee will be joining the Toronto Research team at National Bank Financial, from BMO Capital Markets, as an Associate Analyst working with Merchandising Analyst Jim Durran.

Antoine Casimir, Associate with BMO Capital Markets’ Loan Products Group in Vancouver is moving to Montreal based Private Equity fund, Novacap Investments.

Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Senior Vice-President Brian Gibson left to start his own Toronto-based investment firm. In addition, Teachers’ hired William Royan from Lehman Brothers in New York for the new position of Vice-President of Relationship Investing.

Hedge Fund Salesman Alex Ball has moved from CIBC World Markets to Macquarie Capital Securities.

Resulting from the closure of Moore Capital’s Canadian office, Associate, Nic Lim is moving to GMP’s Hedge Fund and Associate, Anna-Maria Kaneff is moving to Greg Bowland’s West Face Capital.

Wellington West Holdings appointed Sam Pellettieri as Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager. Pellettieri is the former Founder, Principal and Portfolio Manager at Tetrem Capital Management.

Energy Analyst Jeff Fiell has left Octagon Capital to join Evergreen Capital Partners’ Calgary based team as Vice-President, Research and Energy Analyst.
