NYT disses Venture blogs

Perhaps this wasn’t such as good idea after all.

However, I hope that our little site hasn’t fallen into the traps that the Gray Lady (New York Times) is oulining above. We do our best to talk about issues of relevance, like deal issues and technology trends. The NYT story rightly slams the Midwest venture capitalist that writes about his marathon obsession almost every day; wonder what the NYT journalist would have said had he known that the same VC blogger has installed webcams looking out over the decks of his Colorado and Alaskan vacation homes. His blog gives you a live eye view of what he sees when he wakes up in the morning. (Hey, lookit me and my picturesque view, I’m a success). Dunce award there.

Our plan is to continue to use this forum to combine industry “tutorials” with tech trend discussions as well as a few other references that strike a chord. One of our first blogs was on return expectations, in fact. So we passed the NYT test there.

These can work, and from the feedback we’ve received, it is. But keep us honest if we stray into the quicksand highlighted in the NYT piece.
