Has CNBC heard of Molson's?
If you watch CNBC, you might have seen a recent series of promotional ads with the tag line “I Am…CNBC”. Famous CEOs talk about themselves, the market, their firms. It looks a bit like a NASDAQ commerical. CNBC is running similar ads on their website.
I am CNBC. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Perhaps a 2000-2005 ad campaign hatched by my friend, advertising agency star Mark Fitzgerald.
I know some folks are of the view that imitation is the best form of flattery (see “Is imitation truly flattering?“, June 16-07), but it looks — at best — more than a bit unimaginative to me.
