If one needed any proof how organized the Quebec venture capital crowd is, today’s North American Venture Capital Summit in Quebec City is it. For the 5th consecutive year, when the attraction of conferences is dwindling, there are over two hundred key players from around the world — all placed perfectly to hear about the exciting things that are going on in the Quebec venture capital industry.
The organizers did a great job at the kick-off last night. With Premier Jean Charest, CDP head Henri-Paul Rousseau, former Canadiens coach Jacques Demers and former PM Brian Mulroney all speaking.
In the audience were senior VCs from France, U.K., Israel, U.S.A., Switzerland, Germany, Spain, etc.
I’m trying to imagine a similar forum in Toronto, and I don’t know where to begin. This event is just another example of the incredible ecosystem that is building in Quebec – all due to a will among the provincial government, limited partners, and the local VC themselves.
